This unique program is designed for experienced students who want to work in an intimate group setting exploring the medium and subject matter of their choice. Encouraging instructors provide students with a fun and social experience that allows them to de-stress, relax and get inspired.

One River School has developed a unique Portfolio Development Program for motivated teens who are preparing a body of work for college admission. Based on years of research, our program allows teen students to demonstrate an approach to art making that is investigative, ambitious and individualized. 

• Experienced educators help students analyze and evaluate their artwork through discussions, critiques and exercises
• Students learn how best to establish a competent portfolio, artist statement, and how to articulate the personal motivation behind their art
• Each student will be guided to establish a unique & comprehensive body of work which demonstrates experimentation with materials and ideas

Designed for teen students who want to focus on mastering technical skills in the drawing medium. Students will explore the elements and principles of art and design through fun and engaging drawing projects. 

• Compelling projects explore figure drawing, portraiture, still life, architecture, landscape and more
• Work with a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, oil / chalk pastel, pen and ink
• Teacher led demonstrations help students master the principles of line, tone, light, texture, composition, spatial depth and perspective

Designed for digital art students who love Manga or Comics! Students in this class will be taught how to take their digital artistry & skills further by learning the foundations of panel based Storytelling and illustrative Rendering techniques, based within two major paradigms: Manga & Cartooning. Students of this course will complete projects which explore the differences and similarities between the two stylizations and develop skills which support both.

• Compelling projects explore: Manga/Comic Layouts, Cell/Soft Shading, Stylized Proportions, Perspective Grids, Visual Effects, and more.
• Teacher led demonstrations provide technical instruction and in depth guidance on rendering techniques such as: shading, highlighting & texture. Along with methods of stylizations for both western or eastern character designs.
• Projects will use the program Adobe Photoshop and class is open to any student regardless of ability. Welcome to all!

Our core digital art class brings fine art and technology together by providing students with the tools, software, and inspiration to make art on a virtual canvas. Student will learn how to use the Adobe Creative Suite allowing them to become well-rounded digital artists. 

• Compelling projects shuffle digital painting, design, illustration, and animation
• Instructors connect relevant skills and techniques to today’s industry trends
• Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Animate while using XP Pen Tablet technology

Our core teen art program allows students to become well-rounded artists by shuffling projects across a variety of media and subject matter. Teen artists will deepen their knowledge of painting and further their painting skills in color mixing, paint application, texture, layering, composition, palette knife, brushwork, and more. Kids Digital Art Shuffle™ opens up the world of digital art making by exposing young innovators to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate and Sketchbook Pro to learn the fundamentals of the tools, layers, and software to make art on a virtual canvas. Using the latest software and XP Pen tablets, students learn how to create digital illustration and animations while understanding visual characteristics such as transparency, symmetry, frame rate, texture and illusion.

• Students learn the basics of the Adobe Suite to create digital art, media and design
• Digital art projects include cartooning, animation, character modeling, digital sketching, hybrid-animals, digital painting, and more
• Instructors are digital artists who are dedicated to creating an engaging, fun and inspiring classroom environment

This class is designed for students in Grades 3-5 who want to learn the fundamentals of cartooning and illustration through fun projects that stimulate their imagination. Students draw inspiration from cartoonists and illustrators from around the world as they develop their own cartooning style.  

• Compelling projects explore character design, comic-book creation and help students develop dynamic storylines
• Teacher-led demos teach students how to use illustration markers, brush pens/fine liners, and watercolors
• Students create artwork that showcases original characters in their own cartooning style

Designed for students who love working with their hands and are fascinated with the magic of tinkering, creating, building, combining and reusing materials. Students will master the elements and principles of art and design through fun and tactile projects.

• Teacher led demonstrations provide technical instruction and hands on guidance in the use and assemblage of new materials
• Students have creative freedom within each project to develop artworks that embrace their personal interests
